Immortality represents a deep desire in mankind and is also present in virtually all religions, which describe post-mortem scenarios, which often turn out to be consequences of life on earth. In this sense, immortality is understood as a manipulation of human ethics and behaviour.
In the hearts of each of us, immortality is somewhat of a dream of never having to face the end of earthly life, that is, death. This is because of the simple awareness of our birth and identity.
But are we really born, or is there a part of us that is born as ego-subjugated and identity-bound, and another non-identity-bound part that has always existed?
Where does what we call consciousness come from? Why is it installed in many life forms on our planet? Incidentally, we could also imagine that consciousness installs itself in other life forms, alien life forms, and would therefore become a kind of fundamental ingredient of the universe.
If it is an ingredient that is installed in the life-form, it means that this ingredient exists prior to the birth of this life-form, even though it is an essential part of it, particularly when this life-form has an awareness of its own identity as in the case of the human species.
So to speak of immortality is not only to evade death but also to evade birth and imagine that there is a part of our consciousness that is not dependent on our earthly identity, always present and in force.
The basic problem is that we are blind to this other reality and our only chance to see it is to use our imagination.
